Natural and cultural heritage assets in Vietnam
Vietnam is leveraging its diverse natural landscapes and cultural traditions to enhance its tourism identity. In Khanh Hoa, the coastal identity is deeply rooted in the livelihoods of fishing communities and spiritual traditions, such as the worship of the Whale God (Ca Ong) and the Cau Ngu festival. These cultural practices, including folk performances like ho ba trao, serve as vital links to the region's maritime history.
In Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, unique biological habitats are drawing scientific interest. The area hosts the world's largest population of Calocedrus rupestris, a rare coniferous tree that grows on limestone mountains with thin soil. Additionally, the park features specialized forest ecosystems within cave sinkholes, such as those in Son Doong cave, where vegetation thrives due to light entering through collapsed cave ceilings.
