Natural cooling spots in Mitoyo and Kagamino offer summer relief
Various natural locations in Japan are being highlighted as summer cooling spots to escape the heat.
In Mitoyo, Ayugaeri Falls offers a scenic experience with a vibrant blue basin. The site is accessible via a walking path from the Michi-no-Eki Takarada no Sato Sait way station. The falls derive their name from the historical behavior of sweetfish (ayu) that would turn back upon reaching the cascade. Visitors can enjoy forest bathing and wading in the water.
In Kagamino, Okayama Prefecture, Sengen Valley serves as a destination for relaxation. The valley features several waterfalls, including the 20-meter-high Karane Falls. At the Sengen Garden area, visitors can participate in catching amago (a type of trout) and grilling them on-site.
