Natural gas adoption drives efficiency in Yogyakarta

Natural gas utilization via Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is driving operational efficiencies for various entities in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

RSUP Dr. Sardjito has reported a 75% reduction in operational costs after switching to natural gas supplied by PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk. The hospital uses between 25,000 and 30,000 cubic meters of gas per month to power boilers for sterilization, laundry, and kitchen operations. The switch is also noted for being more environmentally friendly due to lower emissions compared to other fossil fuels.

In the commercial sector, Marugame Udon Kaliurang has also adopted CNG through PT Gagas Energi Indonesia. The restaurant outlet uses approximately 1,000 cubic meters of gas per month via seven CNG cylinders. Management noted that the transition provides a more stable flame and includes technical assistance and maintenance services provided by the supplier, which were unavailable with their previous energy source.
