Natural gas infrastructure developments in Ünye and Yüksekova

In Ünye, natural gas infrastructure projects have reached a significant milestone, with a network covering 56,000 homes now established. Aksa Doğal Gaz official Oğuzcan Deniz reported that 18 neighborhoods and the Organized Industrial Zone (OSB) are currently utilizing the service, bringing the total number of active households to 41,000. While the main network is complete, investment plans for remaining side streets are scheduled for 2027. Deniz noted that 12,300 households have access to the gas lines at their doors but have not yet completed the subscription process.

In contrast, residents of Esentepe neighborhood in Yüksekova are expressing frustration over service gaps. Ten households on 1308. Sokak claim they were excluded from the project despite gas lines passing directly by their homes. Residents stated they had already replaced their heating systems and stopped purchasing coal or wood based on previous assurances of connectivity. Some residents, including those with chronic health conditions, have called on Akmercan and local authorities to resolve the issue before winter.
