Natural gas infrastructure expands in Río Negro province

Infrastructure projects are expanding natural gas access across several sectors in the Río Negro province of Argentina.

In Cutral Co, municipal authorities are advancing the extension of the gas network. Current works are focused on the Monte Hermoso, Progreso, and Colonia 2 de Abril neighborhoods. Officials report that 70% of semi-rural sectors already have completed gas works, with a goal to reach 90% within approximately one month. The municipality is also providing support to roughly 50 families who lack the financial resources to complete their domestic connections.

In Cipolletti, the Puente 83 neighborhood has officially incorporated natural gas service following decades of community requests. The inauguration involved provincial governor Alberto Weretilneck and local officials. The arrival of gas is expected to improve quality of life by providing a more cost-effective and healthier heating alternative to wood, electricity, or gas canisters. This project is part of a broader infrastructure plan for the area, which includes upcoming LED public lighting and improvements to local cycling paths and roads.
