Natural gas infrastructure reaches Çıldır and Bağlar
Natural gas infrastructure projects have recently reached the districts of Çıldır and Bağlar in Turkey, though the impact of these developments varies by region.
In Çıldır, local officials, including Ardahan MP Kaan Koç and Governor Ömer Hilmi Yamlı, held an official opening ceremony to mark the completion of infrastructure works. Authorities stated that the new gas lines are expected to increase comfort and reduce long-term heating costs for residents.
In the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır, while natural gas has reached the neighborhood, concerns have been raised regarding socioeconomic equality. Although the infrastructure is in place, the high costs of internal installation and monthly bills present a significant barrier for low-income families. This has led to discussions regarding whether the presence of public utility infrastructure translates to actual accessibility for all citizens regardless of income level.
