Natural materials replace plastic in upcoming Christmas decor trends
Christmas decoration trends for the upcoming season are shifting away from synthetic plastics, excessive glitter, and bright colors toward a more sustainable and organic aesthetic known as “Eco-Chic” or “Botanical Christmas.”
Designers and interior experts recommend prioritizing natural textures and noble materials to create a sense of visual calm and serenity. Key elements include dried flora such as pinecones, dehydrated orange or grapefruit slices, cinnamon sticks, and eucalyptus branches. Wood, jute, wicker, and sisal are also being used for ornaments, tree bases, and garlands.
Textiles are also evolving, with raw linen, unbleached cotton, and burlap in earth tones like olive green and terracotta replacing metallic ribbons. This trend emphasizes handcrafted, balanced compositions rather than over-saturated decorations, offering an accessible and eco-friendly alternative for holiday celebrations.
