Natural nail care and the rise of the ‘bare nails’ trend

A new beauty trend known as ‘bare nails’ is gaining popularity, shifting focus from complex designs and long extensions toward a natural, polished, and sophisticated appearance. This trend prioritizes healthy-looking nails through meticulous hygiene and deep hydration.

To achieve this look, experts recommend maintaining short or medium lengths using shapes such as square, oval, round, or squoval. The aesthetic can be achieved either by using fine-grain files to smooth the surface and applying cuticle oil for a natural shine, or by using translucent nail polish for a subtle tint.

Maintaining nail health is essential for this trend. Key practices include using vegetable oils like castor or sweet almond oil to create a protective moisture barrier and avoiding pure acetone, which can cause dryness. Additionally, filing in a single direction rather than a back-and-forth motion helps prevent micro-fissures and breakage.
