Nature enthusiasts hold community events in Van and Bitlis

Nature enthusiasts in Turkey's eastern regions have organized several community-focused events aimed at promoting local traditions and environmental awareness.

In the Çatak district of Van, members of the Vadi Doğa Sporları Kulübü participated in a honey harvesting activity. Following a nature hike, participants joined local beekeeper Kazım Elasan to experience traditional organic honey production. The club's president, Ömer Demez, noted the challenges of the profession, including the remote location and the presence of bears in the area.

In the Tatvan district of Bitlis, approximately 50 participants organized by the Nemrut Jeopark Spor Kulübü held an event at Lake Van. The group engaged in water sports, including swimming, canoeing, and pedal boating, followed by a shoreline cleanup to collect waste. Participants emphasized the need for better wastewater treatment and infrastructure development, such as marinas and boat ramps, to protect the lake and support its potential for water sports.
