Nature preserves in California host birding and hiking events

Various nature preserves and science centers across California are hosting community outdoor events on October 24.

In the San Francisco Bay Area, activities include birding for beginners at Bair Island in Redwood City, hiking at the Bouverie Preserve in Glen Ellen, and animal feeding sessions in San Jose. The EcoCenter in Palo Alto will host a ‘Science Saturday’ focused on spiders, snakes, and owls, while the Exploratorium in San Francisco offers butterfly-themed activities.

In Morongo Valley, the Big Morongo Canyon Preserve is hosting ‘Birdability Day’ in partnership with Audubon California. This program provides an accessible bird watching experience via a flat boardwalk suitable for wheelchairs and strollers. The preserve also offers moderate to vigorous hiking on the West Canyon and Yucca Ridge trails.
