Nature walks and biodiversity events scheduled in the Netherlands and Belgium

Various nature-focused events and guided walks are scheduled across the Netherlands and Belgium.

In the Netherlands, Staatsbosbeheer is organizing a silence walk in the De Groote Peel peatland area on September 27, 2026. Led by a Peel guide, the approximately 6 to 7 km route aims to provide a tranquil experience in the national park. The walk starts from Buitencentrum De Pelen and requires registration.

In Belgium, the municipality of Koekelare is participating in the Forest Week from October 4 to 11, 2026, with a focus on biodiversity. Activities include guided walks in the Koekelare Forest and the Arboretum. One walk features retired forest ranger Herman van Den Bosch, focusing on tree species and climate change resilience, while another offers an evening tour exploring the forest between light and dark. A family-oriented scavenger hunt is also available.
