NatWest grows India IT staff as it refurbishes Exeter branch
NatWest Group, trading as RBS, is expanding its IT workforce in India, where the employee base has become its second‑largest outside the UK. The growth reflects insourcing of work previously handled by third‑party suppliers and the bank says the impact on its Scottish operations is small, despite recent layoffs of IT staff in Scotland.
At the same time, NatWest has invested £348,236 to modernise its Exeter High Street branch. The refurbishment adds state‑of‑the‑art equipment, upgraded machines, new digital signage and enhanced customer areas, and supports the bank’s pledge of no further branch closures until at least 2029. The branch will also continue to host free financial‑education programmes such as Financial Foundations and the NatWest Thrive initiative for young people.
