Naughty Dog confirms multiple new 'The Last of Us' projects in development

Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann has confirmed that the 'The Last of Us' franchise will continue to expand with multiple new projects currently in development. In an interview with The Washington Post, Druckmann stated, “We’re not done with The Last of Us. There’s a couple projects in the works,” though he did not specify if these will be new video games, spin-offs, or other media.

Druckmann also clarified his current relationship with the HBO television adaptation. While he co-created and co-showran the first two seasons, he is not involved in the creative direction of the upcoming third season. Naughty Dog as a studio also holds no creative role in the direction of the new season, which is being led by Craig Mazin. The third season is expected to conclude the narrative arc covered by the existing games.

Despite the studio's reduced involvement in the television series, Druckmann emphasized that Naughty Dog remains the steward of the intellectual property. The studio is currently focusing on its next major title, 'Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet,' while maintaining the long-term future of the post-apocalyptic franchise.
