Nautrik develops autonomous marine drones for defense and civilian use
Swedish defense company Nautrik has launched the Riverine 4, an autonomous unmanned marine drone designed for both military and civilian applications. The four-meter-long, 850-kilogram vessel is capable of reaching speeds of over 20 knots.
Driven by artificial intelligence, the system is designed to allow multiple drones to operate together as a unified group, whether deployed from land or ships. The technology utilizes interaction methods inspired by the video game industry to facilitate control and simulation.
While the drones have potential military applications, such as patrolling coastlines or strategic waterways, Nautrik emphasizes their civilian utility. Potential uses include monitoring oil pipelines and transporting supplies.
