Naval vessels from US and India visit Sri Lanka

The United States Navy’s USS Canberra (LCS 30) has returned to Colombo for its second port visit to Sri Lanka this year. The visit aims to strengthen naval ties and maritime security cooperation in the Indian Ocean. US Ambassador Eric Meyer noted that the engagement reinforces a partnership built on trust and a shared commitment to regional stability.

Simultaneously, the Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron has arrived in Sri Lanka for a three-day goodwill visit. The squadron, which includes two warships and a Coast Guard vessel, is conducting a long-range training deployment. The visit includes professional, training, and sporting interactions between Indian and Sri Lankan naval personnel, including officer trainees from the Sri Lanka Navy participating in the deployment.
