Navantia signs industrial cooperation agreements in Croatia

Navantia has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with Croatian companies AITAC and Iskra Shipyard to strengthen its industrial strategy for the Multi-Mission Corvette (MRC) program. The agreements were signed on October 1 in Šibenik during the DEFCROS 3 public security and defense fair.

The cooperation aims to explore various activities related to the MRC program, which involves the acquisition of two new corvettes for the Croatian Navy. Potential areas of collaboration include the exchange of technical documentation, ship design, production engineering, digital engineering, and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS).

Furthermore, the agreements cover possibilities for local shipbuilding and industrial participation, including armament, installation, system integration, commissioning, and testing. The partnership also extends to future maintenance and life-cycle support for the vessels. Navantia is competing for the MRC program against several international firms from countries including France, Italy, Germany, the United States, the Netherlands, South Korea, and Turkey, proposing a model based on the Avante 2200.
