Navarra concludes earliest wine harvest in history

The Denominación de Origen Navarra has officially concluded its 2026 harvest, marking the earliest in the region's history. A total of 43.55 million kilograms of grapes were collected, though some late-harvest varieties are still pending.

The early conclusion of the harvest, which began in early August in the Ribera Baja and Ribera Alta areas, was driven by high summer temperatures. These elevated temperatures accelerated grape maturation, requiring viticulturists and winemakers to implement intensive monitoring to determine the optimal harvest time for each variety and plot.

Regional officials, including the Counselor of Rural Development and Environment, José Mari Aierdi, noted that the campaign was particularly demanding. The rapid evolution of the grapes forced professionals to adapt their work rhythms and carefully plan cellar entries to preserve the quality of the fruit for wine production.
