Navarra Medical Union demands halt to new health service time-tracking system
The Navarra Medical Union (SMN) has called on the regional government to halt the implementation of a new working hour registration system for the Navarra Health Service (SNS-O). The system is scheduled to become mandatory on October 1.
The union argues that the current design fails to accurately record the actual work performed by doctors and medical professionals, as it does not account for non-conventional shifts. While the system may work for standard single-shift workers, the SMN claims it lacks the capacity to track on-call duties, localized shifts, extended hours, weekend visits, and training sessions outside of regular hours.
According to the SMN, these discrepancies affect how duration, compensation, and compensatory rest are calculated. The union also noted that the instruction manual does not cover these specific modalities and criticized the Department of Health for failing to share pilot test results or respond to specific technical concerns regarding the system's reliability.
