Navarra reports rise in post‑secondary education and university scholarship funding

The Navarre regional statistics office says the share of residents aged 15 and over with post‑obligatory education grew 8.4% between 2021 and 2024, rising from 205,982 to 223,245 people. Employment among those 16 and older increased 7.2% while unemployment fell by 13,015. Overall, 38.4% now hold post‑obligatory qualifications, with women slightly ahead of men (40.5% vs 36.2%). The proportion is close to the Spanish average of 41% but far above the 19.1% for foreign‑born residents. Municipalities with more than half of adults holding higher education rose from seven to fifteen, and those with less than 20% fell from eighteen to eleven. On 1 January 2024, 52% of the adult population was employed, 5.4% unemployed, 6.8% studying and 36.2% in other situations.

For the 2025‑2026 academic year, the Navarre government awarded 1,702 university scholarships worth a total of €2,227,520. Of the recipients, 1,323 studied at public universities (receiving €1,609,894) and 379 at private institutions (€617,626). Applications numbered 5,010, with 2,822 eliminated in the first selection round. Additionally, 423 students received mobility grants for study abroad, funded with €350,000; the average grant was €573.28 per student.
