Navarra unions denounce interim firefighter appointments

Firefighter unions in Navarra, including CCOO, ELA, UGT, and SPBN, have denounced the regional administration for using candidates who failed previous selection processes to fill interim non-commissioned officer positions.

These roles are critical as they involve both management duties and operational command during emergencies such as fires and rescues. The unions expressed concern that the current model, modified in 2023, allows individuals without prior firefighting experience to access these positions through open competition, provided they hold a university degree. This follows a legal change that eliminated the sergeant figure and merged its operational duties with those of the non-commissioned officer.
