Navarre family pays up to two‑thirds of labor cost in taxes

A report by Fundación Civismo estimates that a typical household in Navarre with two children and a combined gross salary of €67,200 faces a tax burden of about 37% of gross income when only the most visible taxes and employee contributions are counted. Including the full range of social security contributions, especially the employer‑paid parts, the total fiscal effort rises to roughly two‑thirds of the labour cost.

The analysis, cited by director‑general Albert Guivernau, notes that tax increases in Spain last year outpaced real‑wage growth, according to OECD data. The example family earns €2,400 gross per month per earner, while the average Navarre salary in 2024 was €2,118 per month.
