Navarre Police Force Expands by 400 Officers to Reach 1,600

The Navarre Government and Spain's Ministry of the Interior have signed an agreement to recruit 400 additional traffic police officers. The hiring will raise the total number of police personnel in Navarre to 1,600, the highest level since the Safety Board was created in 2011.

Of the new posts, 250 will be allocated to the Public Safety branch and 150 to the Traffic branch. The agreement also sets out coordination measures, including a dedicated single‑platform for inter‑agency communication, integration of emergency calls from numbers 112, 091 and 062, and an automatic dispatch system that matches resources to the nearest incident. A monitoring committee will oversee the process, and the traffic police will gain access to the national biometric identification system (ABIS) and cooperate with the National Office for Human Rights and the Justice Ministry's PIMIR platform.
