Navas de San Antonio forest fire: evacuations lifted in Segovia
Authorities in Segovia have lifted the evacuation orders for the residents of Vegas de Matute and Los Ángeles de San Rafael following the forest fire in Navas de San Antonio. The decision was made by the Integrated Operational Coordination Center (CECOPI) after overnight firefighting efforts showed significant progress.
The fire's Potential Gravity Index (IGR) has dropped to level 1. While the fire is largely perimeter-controlled and active flames are no longer visible, emergency services continue to perform consolidation and surveillance work to prevent new hotspots. The SG-722 road, which had been closed along its entire route, has also been reopened to traffic.
Officials noted that while the situation has improved, the fire is not yet officially extinguished. Monitoring remains in place due to active weather alerts through August 13, which could impact the stability of the area.
