Robotic lawn mowers shift toward LiDAR and autonomous navigation

The robotic lawn mower market is shifting from traditional perimeter wires toward autonomous navigation technologies such as LiDAR, RTK (Real-Time Kinematic), and AI-assisted vision. This evolution allows for easier installation and more flexible garden management.

Several models are highlighted for their specific technological approaches. The Navimow H2 utilizes LiDAR instead of RTK for navigation. The Mova 1000 features a 360-degree laser scanner for autonomous mapping and obstacle detection up to 30 meters, though multi-zone navigation may require an additional charging station. The Ecovacs Goat A1600 LiDAR Pro employs dual-LiDAR and AI vision to achieve centimeter-level precision, even in shaded or nighttime conditions, without the need for an RTK reference station.

While these wireless technologies simplify setup, experts note that users must still consider garden specifics such as tree density, slope, and satellite coverage to ensure reliable performance.
