Navojoa Mayor seeks community input for 2024 budget
Navojoa Mayor Jorge Alberto Elías Retes is conducting community meetings to gather resident input for the 2024 municipal budget. The goal is to create a more equitable budget by listening directly to the needs of various neighborhoods.
During visits to the Minas de Arena and Jacarandas colonies, residents raised several priority issues. In Minas de Arena, community members requested the expansion of pavement on Bulevar Sonora, the cleaning of vacant lots used as illegal dumps, and better regulation of mechanical workshops that obstruct streets.
A significant point of discussion was the preservation of ‘Hoyón,’ an old sand mine. Residents requested it be converted into a municipal green area for recreation and asked for a halt to housing construction in the area due to safety risks. The mayor committed to reviewing the legal status of the site and encouraged residents to submit a formal, signed petition to support the creation of a park.
