Navpreet Singh deported from Türkiye to India for drug trafficking

Navpreet Singh, an alleged international narcotics kingpin, has been deported from Türkiye to India. Singh had reportedly obtained Turkish citizenship using the false identity 'Navab Virk' to facilitate the smuggling of heroin and methamphetamine from Afghanistan to India.

Following his arrival, a Delhi court at Rouse Avenue granted the Delhi Police 10 days of custody for investigation. Authorities stated that Singh is a central figure in a network that includes several other accused individuals. The investigation is expected to expand across multiple Indian states, including Punjab, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah described the deportation as a 'historic milestone' and reaffirmed the government's commitment to dismantling all narco-cartels by December 2029. Singh was previously declared a proclaimed offender in 2022 and has been linked to a major 2021 narcotics case involving the seizure of 355.5 kg of heroin.
