Navsari leopard attack kills three-year-old child
A three-year-old child was killed in a suspected leopard attack in Bhinar village, located in the Navsari district of Gujarat, India. According to forest officials, the child was allegedly dragged away from outside his residence during the evening hours.
Following the incident, the local administration, police, and forest department conducted a joint search and rescue operation. The child’s body was subsequently recovered from a nearby area. Bhagirath Singh Jhala, Assistant Conservator of Forests for the Dharampur Sub-division, stated that while preliminary information suggests a leopard attack, conclusive confirmation is pending a post-mortem report.
To manage the threat to local residents, the forest department has deployed five teams led by a Range Forest Officer to track and trap the animal. Authorities are also processing legal documentation to provide ex-gratia compensation to the family.
