Navy sailor finds apartment ransacked and car stolen after 10-month deployment

Connor Nelson, a US Navy sailor, returned to his Lemoore, California, apartment after a 10-month deployment aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln to find his residence ransacked and his vehicle stolen.

Upon arriving via Uber, Nelson discovered his 1997 Toyota 4Runner was missing from his parking space. He then found his apartment door could be opened with a light push. Thieves had vandalized the unit and stolen various belongings, including a laptop, television, snowboard, golf clubs, fishing equipment, and other personal items.

Reports suggest the vehicle may have been missing for two to three months, meaning the theft likely occurred during Nelson's deployment in the Middle East. Local police are currently investigating the incident. A GoFundMe campaign established to assist Nelson in replacing his stolen property has raised over $35,000.
