Navy veterans reunite for cross-country bike ride honoring 9/11
Two Navy veterans, Jim Serger and Cory Hardy, reunited after 30 years to complete a cross-country bicycle expedition across the United States. The journey began on July 14 in San Diego, California, with the destination being New York City.
The ride was organized to honor the upcoming 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. Serger, who has written books for the nonprofit Tunnel to Towers, initiated the trip to challenge himself and reconnect with Hardy, a former service comrade.
During the trek, the duo encountered various obstacles, including 20 road closures, flooding and fire in Colorado, and flat tires.
