Navya Shekhawat becomes first female Indian Army officer to serve as President's Aide-de-Camp

Major Navya Shekhawat of the Army Service Corps has become the first woman officer from the Indian Army to serve as Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to President Droupadi Murmu. Her appointment at Rashtrapati Bhavan marks a significant milestone for women in the military, as she is the second woman overall to hold the presidential ADC assignment, following Lieutenant Commander Yashasvi Solanki of the Indian Navy.

Originally from Sikar district, Rajasthan, Shekhawat entered the military through the Combined Defence Services examination. After training at the Officers Training Academy in Chennai, she was commissioned into the Army Service Corps in 2021. She rose to the rank of Major within approximately five years.

As an ADC, Shekhawat is responsible for assisting the President during official functions, state ceremonies, and diplomatic engagements, while managing protocol and coordination between the President's office and other government branches.
