NAWOJ Lagos advocates for Women's Reserved Seats Bill
The Lagos State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has advocated for increased female political representation in Nigeria. During an advocacy visit to Honourable Fuad Laguda, the representative for the Surulere I Federal Constituency, the association called for legislative support for the Reserved Seats for Women Bill (HB 1349).
NAWOJ Lagos Chairperson Jumoke Falayi-Johnson emphasized the need for the bill to increase women’s presence in the National Assembly and promote inclusive governance. The delegation also sought to establish a strategic partnership with Laguda to enhance socio-economic and political empowerment for women, youths, and rural communities.
Laguda expressed his readiness to collaborate with the association to expand empowerment opportunities. He noted his ongoing legislative initiatives, including efforts toward establishing a National Polytechnics Commission and various vocational training programs for young people.
