Naxos hosts 12th Studium Historicorum Ecclesiasticorum meeting

The 12th Summer Meeting of the Studium Historicorum Ecclesiasticorum is currently taking place at the ‘Agios Kosmas’ camps in the Plaka area of Naxos. The conference is themed ‘Heirs of Liberty: 250 years since the birth of Ioannis Kapodistrias (1776–1831)’.

The event is co-organized by professors from the Theological Schools of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, under the auspices of the Holy Metropolis of Paronaxia.

Sessions have covered various historical and theological topics, including the Poros ecclesiastical school, the Aegina orphanage, and the American democratic experiments in Corinth. Presentations have also utilized previously unpublished archival materials from the Diplomatic and Historical Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to examine anti-Kapodistrian publications from 1831.
