Naxos Municipality to host seminar on renewable energy and spatial planning

The Municipality of Naxos and Lesser Cyclades is organizing an open information seminar on Sunday, October 4, 2026, to discuss Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and the implications of the new Special Spatial Planning Framework. The event will take place at the ‘Iakovos Kampanellis’ Municipal Theater.

The seminar aims to inform citizens and stakeholders about how the new spatial planning regulations, which dictate the placement of RES installations, may impact the natural and cultural landscape, tourism, and the primary sector of Naxos and the Lesser Cyclades. Speakers will include academic experts and representatives from environmental and ecological networks to discuss the pros and cons of renewable energy and European energy policy.

The local political faction ‘Dynami Allagas’, led by Leonardos Chatziandrou, has also called for community participation, emphasizing the need for a scientifically and legally documented stance to protect the region's interests.
