Naxos teachers' union protests conflicting parade decisions

The ELME union of the South Cyclades has expressed strong opposition regarding conflicting decisions about the October 28th student parade and holiday celebrations in Naxos.

A dispute has emerged between the Vice Governor, who decided against holding the parade, and the Municipality, which announced that celebrations would proceed as planned. The union stated that these contradictory announcements are causing confusion among educators, students, and parents.

ELME criticized the potential shift of decision-making responsibility to school principals regarding student participation based on weather conditions. The union demanded a unified and clear decision from authorities to ensure the physical safety of both students and teachers, stating that ‘safety cannot become a ball for shifting responsibilities’.
