Nayanthara discusses upcoming film ‘Hi’ and career beginnings

Actress Nayanthara has shared insights regarding her upcoming romantic comedy, ‘Hi’, which is scheduled for theatrical release on August 28, 2026. Starring alongside Kavin, the film is being compared to the 2008 Tamil film ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’ due to its emotional tone. Nayanthara described the new project as a modern, compact family-backed romance rather than a large ensemble story.

The plot follows a young man named Mayilsamy who, after facing repeated disappointments in love, enters an unexpected marriage with Devayani, an unconventional woman. The narrative explores whether the couple can develop genuine love following their marriage. The film features a supporting cast including Prabhu, Radikaa Sarathkumar, and the late actor Bhagyaraj.

In a separate reflection on her career, Nayanthara discussed her professional beginnings. She revealed that her first assignment, a modeling cover shoot, earned her between 2,000 and 3,000 rupees. She noted that her entry into the film industry began accidentally in 2003 after being discovered by filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad.
