Nayib Bukele Tops El Salvador Poll and Named Uruguay’s Favorite Foreign Leader

A recent poll in El Salvador found that 67 % of respondents support the continuation of President Nayib Bukele’s party, Nuevas Ideas, in the 2027 presidential election. The survey, conducted in May 2026, highlighted security and the economy as the main concerns driving voter preference for Bukele’s leadership.

In Uruguay, sociologist Rafael Porzecanski said Bukele is the most popular foreign political figure among Uruguayans, noting the Salvadoran president’s growing visibility across Latin America due to his policies on public security, economic modernization, technology and infrastructure.
