Nazi graffiti appears on homes linked to detained anti‑tourism activists in Santa Maria del Camí, Mallorca

In Santa Maria del Camí on Mallorca, anti‑tourism activists were detained earlier this week on suspicion of targeting local real‑estate firms. Shortly after, Nazi‑style graffiti was found on two houses connected to the family of one of the activists. The markings included Star of David symbols, the words “jueus” and “juden” (the latter meaning "Jews" in German), and an attempted swastika.

The activists’ lawyer, Josep de Luis, said the acts represent “the need to express hatred and resort to Nazi references.” Local anti‑tourism groups denounced the incident as a media‑driven criminalisation of their movement, while about 50 supporters gathered outside Palma’s courts to voice solidarity. The governing party PSIB and the government spokesperson, Antoni Costa, condemned the vandalism and called for a swift police investigation and a de‑escalation of tensions in the municipality.
