Nazife Tuzlar Elaldı serves as both neighborhood head and tailor in Adana

Nazife Tuzlar Elaldı, the head of the Yeşilevler neighborhood in the Seyhan district of Adana, balances her role as a local official with her profession as a tailor.

Elaldı learned tailoring through courses intended to support her family's economy and opened her own business in 2006. Her close relationships with residents, built while working as a tailor, eventually led her to run for office. In the local elections held on March 31, 2024, she defeated male opponents to become the neighborhood head.

She manages her dual responsibilities by addressing the needs and problems of residents during the day and returning to her sewing machine in the evenings. Elaldı stated that her tailoring work allows her to stay connected to the community and listen to their concerns, describing her role as a service of the heart rather than just a profession.
