Nazilli Chamber of Commerce targets export growth for fig season
The 2026-2027 dried fig purchasing season has officially begun in the Nazilli region. During the opening ceremony hosted by the Nazilli Commodity Exchange, Nuri Arslan, Chairman of the Nazilli Chamber of Commerce, emphasized that increasing exports is the primary method for creating added value for the industry.
Arslan reported that 40,000 tons of dried figs were exported during the previous season, with Germany and France serving as the largest markets. To drive further economic growth, the Chamber aims to diversify products and expand into new markets, specifically targeting the United States, Japan, and other Far East countries. The strategy includes promoting figs not just as fruit, but as ingredients for pastries and baked goods.
The event, which also included the groundbreaking ceremony for the Nazilli Local Products Specialized Industrial Site, was attended by Aydın Governor Dr. Osman Varol and other regional officials.
