Nazilli Commodity Exchange advances local products project and producer support

The Nazilli Commodity Exchange (NTB) and the Nazilli Local Products Cooperative have reached a major milestone in the Yerli Ürünler Merkezi (Local Products Center) project. Following a series of developmental stages since 2019, the tender process for two parcels of the project has been completed with a total contract value of 873.9 million TL. Egesit İnşaat secured the contracts, winning the first stage with a bid of 428.9 million TL and the second stage with a bid of 445 million TL.

In a separate development, Birkan Şen, a candidate for the presidency of the Nazilli Commodity Exchange, has pledged to take a more proactive role in supporting fig producers. Highlighting the rising costs of labor, fuel, fertilizer, and pesticides, Şen stated that the exchange must act as a bridge between producers, traders, and exporters. He emphasized that the institution should not merely track prices but should actively advocate for the sector's needs in Ankara and engage directly with stakeholders in the field to ensure producers receive fair value for their harvests.
