Nazilli Municipality deploys AI-powered disaster drone

Nazilli Municipality has added an artificial intelligence-powered disaster emergency drone to its inventory to enhance search and rescue operations during emergencies. The drone features thermal imaging capabilities, allowing it to detect body heat to locate missing or trapped individuals in difficult terrain.

According to Mayor Dr. Ertuğrul Tetik, the technology is designed to significantly reduce response times. The drone can scan an area in minutes that would typically require a 400-person ground team several hours to cover. It is intended for use in scenarios involving earthquakes, floods, fires, and missing persons cases.

The device will be utilized by the Nazilli Disaster Emergency Team (NAFAD). While primarily serving the Nazilli district, the municipality noted that the drone will also be available to support search and rescue efforts in neighboring provinces and districts when necessary.
