NBA 2K27 announces early access and Nintendo Switch 2 performance updates

NBA 2K27 is set to launch its first season in early access on August 26, 2026, for players with Deluxe or Ultra editions. This precedes the global release scheduled for September 4, 2026. The upcoming season features Victor Wembanyama, the San Antonio Spurs star and 2025-2026 Defensive Player of the Year, as the cover athlete.

Season 1 includes a progression system with 40 tiers of exclusive content, such as cosmetics, tokens, and MyTEAM cards. Players can earn experience through cross-progression in The City and MyTEAM modes. The update also reintroduces limited-time events like 2XREP weekends.

Regarding technical specifications, 2K Games confirmed that NBA 2K27 will support a 60 fps Performance Mode on the Nintendo Switch 2. This is a significant technical upgrade from the previous installment in the franchise, which was limited to 30 fps on the console.
