NBA Europe expansion receives no bids from EuroLeague or football clubs

The NBA is planning a European basketball league slated for the 2027‑28 season and set a deadline of 29 June for investors and clubs to submit proposals. Despite the league’s promotion of strong interest, no team from the EuroLeague or any football club has lodged a binding offer to take part in the project.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reported that, although the NBA’s senior figure Mark Teitume claimed “significant interest” from a wide range of teams and investors, the reality remains that no EuroLeague franchise or football organization has submitted a formal bid. Greek reports note that AEK Athens had previously explored participation, but no further development has emerged.

The lack of concrete submissions leaves the NBA’s European venture without a confirmed European club partner as the deadline approaches.
