NBA Europe franchise bids launch as BCL adds German clubs

The NBA is moving ahead with plans for a permanent Europe league, opening a franchise‑selling process that has drawn more than 20 offers from clubs across the continent. Bids, valued between €500 million and €1 billion, include German candidates Alba Berlin and FC Bayern Munich, which are seen as the strongest contenders for the twelve fixed slots slated for an October 2027 start.

Separately, the Basketball Champions League announced its 2027 lineup, confirming that Germany’s BMA365 Bamberg Baskets will join Alba Berlin and Telekom Baskets Bonn as the nation’s representatives. The draw for the competition’s groups will take place on 8 July in Mies, Switzerland, and the tournament will feature clubs from across Europe.
