NBA Europe League set to launch in October 2027

NBA Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum announced that a new NBA Europe League will begin in October 2027. The league will grant the champion of the next Basketball Champions League a spot in the NBA Europe competition. The project is a joint effort between the NBA and FIBA, with a financial model that reinvests most franchise fee revenue back into European basketball infrastructure, clubs and marketing.

Tatum said negotiations with the EuroLeague are ongoing, but the launch will proceed even without a formal agreement. He emphasized that the league aims to create a transparent, success‑focused system and to channel a large share of generated value into European clubs, facilities and related services. Luka Dončić’s support for the initiative was also noted.
