NBA fathers discuss perceived exclusion of Black fathers

On the debut episode of ‘Ultimate Dads: Unplugged’, several prominent fathers of NBA players raised concerns regarding the league's relationship with Black fathers. Justin Tatum, father of Jayson Tatum, joined Dwyane Wade Sr., LaVar Ball, and Quenton Brown to discuss what they perceive as efforts by the NBA to marginalize Black fathers once their sons reach professional status.

Justin Tatum accused the league of attempting to ‘act like they’re the fathers’. The discussion touches on historical narratives regarding Black male athletes and their parental roles, contrasting the celebration of athletes' achievements with the perceived minimization of the men who supported their development.
