NBA: Finnish players and teams eye improved seasons

As the new NBA season begins, two teams featuring Finnish connections are looking to improve upon previous performances. Lauri Markkanen enters his tenth season with the Utah Jazz, with the team aiming for a playoff berth. Markkanen expressed high expectations for the team's competitiveness during media day.

The Jazz's success may depend on improving their defense and the health of key players. The team faces challenges following the departure of center Walker Kessler to the Los Angeles Lakers and a toe injury to Jusuf Nurkic, which is expected to sideline him until at least November. The team is also relying on young talent like rookie Darryn Peterson and second-year player Ace Bailey.

Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies, coached by Tuomas Iisalo, face a more difficult path toward the playoffs compared to the Jazz.
