Nikola Jokić sparks debate over NBA and EuroLeague competition levels

Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokić has sparked a debate regarding the differences between the NBA and EuroLeague. Jokić suggested that every NBA player should spend six months playing in Europe to experience the intense pressure and atmosphere found in European arenas, specifically citing the high stakes in cities like Athens and Belgrade.

His comments drew sharp criticism from former NBA players. Gilbert Arenas responded by disparaging the level of the EuroLeague, claiming that the league is primarily composed of NBA “rejects” or players who could not secure roster spots in the United States. Arenas argued that these players simply become stars in Europe because they are playing against lower-tier competition.

Separately, Jokić has been focused on team chemistry with the Denver Nuggets ahead of the new season. He recently attended a college football game with his teammates to build rapport within the squad as they prepare for upcoming competition and potential contract discussions.
