NBA players from 2023 draft class secure major extensions

As the 2026-27 NBA season approaches, players from the 2023 draft class are beginning to secure significant contract extensions. Following Victor Wembanyama’s five-year, $252 million deal with the San Antonio Spurs, the Thompson twins have also reached major agreements.

Amen Thompson of the Houston Rockets has signed a five-year extension worth $208 million, opting for 21% of the salary cap. His brother, Asar Thompson, selected fifth overall by the Detroit Pistons, has secured a five-year deal worth $155 million.
