NBA prepares for 2026-27 season with major roster shifts

The NBA enters the 2026-27 season marked by significant player movements and roster changes across the league. Notable transactions include Giannis Antetokounmpo moving to Miami, Jaylen Brown joining Philadelphia, and Ja Morant arriving in Portland. In Toronto, Kawhi Leonard has returned, while Minnesota features a backcourt pairing of LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards.

The Oklahoma City Thunder remain a focal point due to their deep roster led by MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, and Jalen Williams, despite the departure of Luguentz Dort, Isaiah Joe, and Aaron Wiggins through summer trades. Additionally, Duke University alumni continue to maintain a significant presence in the league, with 26 former Blue Devils on opening-day rosters and various graduates holding prominent coaching, front office, and executive positions.
